Worldrecord trial: HongKong

The Hongkong Philharmonica Orchestra is hoping that a good number of the people who snapped up the 19.000 free tickets for tonight’s Swire Symphony under the stars concert at Happy Valley are harmonica players.

The orchestra wants to enter the Guinness World records with the most number of people playing the instrument at the same time. The record to beat was made in 2007 in Trossingen and is 3.900 players.

Hongkongers may have already set a record – all 3.000 tickets distributed online were gone in 10 minutes when booking was launched two weeks ago. Organizers said their server crashed during that time. Another 16.000 tickets distributed at Tom lee outlets were also snapped up in two days.

One final note: concertgoers are reminded to bring their coats – and don’t forget those harmonicas either.
