World Music Festival 2013


The World Music Festival in Innsbruck/Austria will take place from May 9-12, 2013. Roughly 10,000 participants from 15 different countries are expected to attend the world's largest accordion orchestra festival.

HOHNER will be represented at the festival by a variety of parties:

  • A HOHNER booth will be erected in the Congress House in cooperation with music distributor Musik Meyer.
  • There will also be several performances by top HOHNER musicians.  International prize-winners of the Hohner Conservatory Matthias Matzke (Germany), Dorin Grama (Moldavia), and Tjanlong Li (China) will be performing at the "Accordion Master" event on May 10, 2013 at 07:30 pm at Saal Brüssel.
  • The HOHNER Akkordeonorchester 1927 will also be present at the festival and will tantalize the audience among other things with the First Suite in E flat of G.Holst or Variations on a shaker melody of A. Copland. The highlight of the concert which takes place on May, 10 at 8.15 pm at the Congresshaus Innsbruck will be Howard Levys' "Concert for Diatonic Harmonica and Orchestra", which the world class performer on the diatonic harmonica will perform in tandem with the HOHNER accordion orchestra.
  • On May, 11 between 2 and 3.30 pm, the students of the International Accordion Teacher and President of the Conféderation Mondiale de l'Accordéon Frédéric Deschamps will perform an concertino.

  • Also on May, 11 at 11 pm at the Saal Innsbruck the "Abend der Nationen" (Evening of Nations) will take place with the mexican band Los Mighty Calacas feat. HOHNER artist Marcos Coll.
  • Furthermore on Saturday, May 11 of 2013 but already at 8.15 pm the orchestra HOHNERklang performs at the "Abend der Nationen" in the Saal Dogana. The orchestra will fill the audience with enthusiasm by playing popular partyhits as well as some songs of their current repertoire. Furthermore the orchestra Hohnerklang will also accompany the price-giving ceremony on Sunday, May 12th at the Olymoic arena. 
  • As a primary sponsor HOHNER has also provided a number of prizes for contestants at this year's festival. With a focus on supporting young accordion professionals HOHNER is offering the solid and reliable Bravo II 48 as well as melodicas from the Student Series for winners of the Orchestra Category.
