New Videos: special concerts at WHF 2013

Besides its well-perceived gala concerts the World Harmonica Festival program also included several special concerts:

At the opening gala on Wednesday evening, the Hohnerklang Orchestra, conducted by Hans-Günther Kölz, offered a spectrum of its musical repertoire which ranged from classical music, Latin and jazz to top class interpretations of international pop hits.

The German Harmonica and Accordion Museum presented a special exhibition on the history of the World Harmonica Festival since its inception in 1989, which was opened by a short but gritty blues concert from harmonica legend Joe Filisko and his partner Eric Noden on guitar.

On Saturday the chamber concert with the harmonica orchestra of the Hong Kong Harmonica Association in the Martin Luther church was a particular highlight of the event. This breathtaking ensemble combines harmonica instruments with strings, percussion and traditional Chinese instruments such as the sheng. The pieces were specially written for the orchestra by three of Hong Kong's leading composers. The audience showed their appreciation with thunderous applause and standing ovations lasting for several minutes. The concert was opened by "Triological Moments", a new project from former chromonica world champion Kathrin Gass featuring Hans-Günther Kölz on piano and accordion and jazz vocalist Anika Köse.
