New Video: Howard Levy at World Music Festival 2013

Howard Levy's “Concert for Diatonic Harmonica and Orchestra” has enjoyed legendary status in the international harmonica scene for a number of years now. It provides impressive proof of the enormous musical possibilities offered by the diatonic harmonica when played using the methods perfected by Levy. In combination with the well-known technique of bending it's possible to play all other missing chromatic notes and microtonal shadings by means of overblows.

Johannes Baumann, conductor of the Hohner Accordion Orchestra 1927, has created a brand-new arrangement of this concert piece for accordion orchestra. Following two successful appearances with Howard in Trossingen, they performed the concerto again on May 10th at the World Music Festival in Innsbruck to frenetic applause.
