In Memory of Richard Hayman

Legendary arranger, conductor, and harmonica player Richard Hayman passed away on February 5, 2014 at age 93. Mr. Hayman first gained prominence as a musician and arranger with Borrah Minevitch and His Harmonica Rascals. He found continued success in Hollywood, arranging film music for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc.

As a recording artist, Mr. Hayman  garnered an international hit with his arrangement and performance of "Ruby" in 1953. He served as principal arranger for the Boston Pops Orchestra for decades, and as Principal Pops Conductor for the St. Louis Symphony and the Grand Rapids, MI Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Hayman is survived by his wife Maryellen Hayman, daughters Olivia Hayman Kidney and Suzy Hayman DeYoung, and four grandchildren.
