In Memoriam - Tom Stryker Jr.

27.05.2013

We are sad to announce that last week Tom Stryker Jr., chromatic player for the Harpsmiths, passed away.

The Harpsmiths performed nationally with many big names. The video above is from Dick Clark's T.V. Show, "Rockin' The  Palace" in 1973.  On Chromatic was Tom Stryker Jr., Jason Smith on Melodica, Bass - Vern Smith and Chord, Al Smith Jr. The Smith boys are all the sons of famous Chord player Al Smith. Sharing the bill that night were the Osmonds, Tony Orlando, Cathy Rigby, Danny Bonaducci, and MC'd by Skiles & Henderson.

The Harpsmiths ranged in age from 9 to 12 and they performed until they all became teenagers. The Harpsmiths were arguably one of the finest youth harmonica groups ever.

The Hohner company offers its deepest condolences to Tom Stryker Sr. and his family.
