HOHNER Artist Grammy Winners

Terrance Simien Wins 2nd Grammy

Two of our favorite groups of musicians just won Grammy Awards this past weekend, Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience and La Santa Cecilia, L.A.'s favorite Latin Alternative Group. We are very proud and wish to express our wholehearted congratulations to each and every member of these two amazing bands.

Terrance, a HOHNER endorsed accordion player, accepted the Grammy for “Dockside Sessions,” which won the award for best regional roots music album. Simien, claiming his second Grammy award, also thanked his wife, manager and agent, Cynthia, and the studio in Maurice where he and his band recorded “Dockside Sessions.”

“This is the 10th Grammy album out of Dockside Studios,” Simien said. “If you wanna make a Grammy record, come down to Dockside Studios. They got the Grammy mojo, y’all. And I want to invite each and every one of y’all to come down to Louisiana.”

La Santa Cecilia Wins 1st Grammy

L.A.'s alt-Latin band La Santa Cecilia won their first Grammy for the major label debut album "Treinta Dias" on Universal Latino. The group, which is named for the patron saint of music, performed at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA just hours before heading back to L.A. to perform during the Grammy pre-telecast show and accept their award.  Jose "Pepe" Carlos plays HOHNER accordions and Marisol Hernandez, the group's vocalist, plays Lanikai Ukuleles. The new disc is due out this spring.

During the NAMM HOHNER Stage performance, Marisol took a few moments to express her thanks to Hohner for being invited to play; "We're thrilled to be here this afternoon, to share what we do, which is a little bit of everything... We'd really really like to thank Hohner, for supporting local and young bands. Pepe's been, he's had his eye on playing Hohner instruments for a long long time..."

Before the last beautifully upbeat cumbia, featuring of course Pepe on accordion, Marisol went on to say, "It means a lot to us to actually be on this stage, finally. We've come to the show, we've come to the displays, we saw Los Lobos last year and I gotta say it's a real honor to be here and to represent HOHNER."
