Biography

Tom received his first harmonica, a Hohner “64”, at the age of 15 in San Francisco as a Christmas gift.  It was then he engaged former “Borah Minevitch Harmonica Rascal” Ray Tankersley as his teacher.     Tom played with the “Sharp Harp,” “Harmonica Express,” and was the lead player for the “Johnny Puleo Harmonica Gang” in 1971.  He has also performed with the Harmonica Aces on Holland America Cruises Lines.  Currently, Tom performs around the world as a soloist with Pops Orchestras/Symphonies and in the Jazz Clubs of Reno and Carson City, Nevada. He is also involved in organizing and performing at the annual “Jazz & Beyond Festival” in Carson City, Nevada.

In 2007 Tom recorded a CD Album, “East Collaboration” with the great Tony Luisi, “boy jazz arranger” for the unequaled Stagg McMann Trio.  The CD was released at the SPAH Convention 2007 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Tom says “don’t miss this one! Tony’s arrangements and accompaniment are unbelievable.”  Currently, Tom is recording original music by composer Gary Edwards for T.V. and movie licensing.   A strong supporter of the harmonica movement, Tom joined SPAH (Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica) in 1980 and served two 3 year terms as President from 2006-2012.  In 2013. at the SPAH 50th Anniversary Convention, Tom was awarded the Pete Pedersen Special Lifetime Achievement Award.
