Biography

Creative, restless researcher, musician, selector and composer with many years of experience on stage and on disc plays in Venezuela as well as many years playing the piano and composing. He started with conventional music styles and moved towards synthetic forms (electronic) of musical production, confronting diverse rhythms and exploring distant cultures which resulted in the project of Circo Vulkano.His musical experience was built up in the local musical scene where he later became a fundamental part in significant musical projects in Venezuela. He acquires recognition and professionalism playing in the well known band Papashanty Sound System.

They won the following awards: Pop & Rock Vzla 2004 “Best Live Show” , Urbe Awards 2004 “Discovery of the Year ”, Pop & Rock Vzla 2005 “ Best Live Show” and “ Band of the Year”, Urbe Awards 2006 “ "Best Live Show” and “Band of the Year”. Having won those awards they where able to perform in the following national and international music festivals: Pop Festival (Caracas), Festival Vibras Positivas (Honduras), Festival Rock al Parque (Colombia), Green Festival (Colombia), Vibraciones de América (Mexico).

They shared stage with Michael Rose, Don Carlos, Junior P, Manu Chao, Black Eyed Peas, Skatalites, Tego Calderon, Vico C, Wisin y Yandel, Cultura Profetica, Los Cafres, Mimi Maura and SideStepper. Accordingly,ChONTO takes up his ties with the organic again and dares to connect his spacial machinery to the sound of a pseudo analogous band. The experience that he has gained through the years, allowed him to work with international artists such as MadProfessor who is a renowned london based sound engineer, Junior P, a Jamaican singer, Johnny Dread and Fidel Nadal.

As years go by Papashanty Sound System becomes suspended in time, however five of its original members went ahead with their projects and so Circo Vulkano is born bringing a fresh, innovative and avant-guard musical proposal that fits perfectly into the international musical trends.
